About – David Brown
With over 35 years of experience on the Great Highland Bagpipe, David brings both skill and passion to his performances. His musical journey began in the Cadet program, and he’s been entertaining audiences ever since—whether as a solo artist or as part of a pipe band.
David’s passion for the bagpipes has led him on countless adventures. He has performed in nearly every Canadian province—Prince Edward Island remains a goal—as well as throughout the Southeastern United States, and has enjoyed several unforgettable trips to Scotland. Throughout his journey, David has been a dedicated member of nine pipe bands, ranging from lively community ensembles to ceremonial military units and competitive bands. He has served as Pipe Major for five bands and has mentored dozens of aspiring pipers over the years.
David has gained a wealth of fascinating experience through his solo performances, spanning traditional ceremonies as well as some wonderfully unexpected settings—ranging from weddings and memorials to hockey games, whiskey tastings, and bonspiels.
David also performs on the bellows-blown Scottish smallpipes, adding another layer of versatility to his musical offerings.
